A resource page

Zombiehub.com is a zombie site of some worth to the beginner survivor. It is a site which more or less directs the reader to more information while providing the basics itself. As such the most useful page on this site is the Zombie Network. A page which gives a long list of other resources, all broken down by category. You have fan sites, communities, survival groups and general horror sites.

Another interesting thing about this website (though at all the only one that does this) is the community element. The blog portion is submitted by readers. This leads to a lot of good discoveries but can also have a lot of mixed or bad information included. Forums tend to give a better community opinion because it is easier to remember this is one person's view point and ideas, not a general authority on the matter.

There is also a shop very similar to the one here. In which you can find zombie related clothes, books etc.

ZombieHub also presents an area for readers to post their own reviews of books or movies as well as very good (i.e. relatively complete) lists of books, movies and video games which focus around zombies.

The site provides a break down of zombie types and categories that can more of less be skipped over. The categories are poorly put together as they are too specific and yet don't actually define the type of zombie. The same goes for the size of hordes they present. It is much more specific (and widely accepted) to go by the Outbreak system.

So while the information about zombies on the site itself is general and little more then a quick read. I do recommend this site for the purpose of continuing to find other sites, communities and to look for films or books on the matter. Just keep an open, yet cautious, mind when reading the blog section.

Make a zombie baby, look up zombie films and learn how the world will not end.

I appologize true survivors; I made three posts today to make up for the lack of posting lately. Blogger hadn't let my post on the 11th go through and yesterday I could not log on. So I am making up for it today. This post is a general post that will cover a couple of topics.

Creating a zombie baby!

Ever wanted to create your own horror doll? I sure haven't. But I'm guessing many of your have. Go here and check out the details. Explore your creative side while raising money for cancer, always a worthwhile goal in my mind. The zombie threat is enough to worry about without cancer making our numbers smaller before the true battle even begins.

Zombie movie site

Here is another zombie site worth looking at. Thssite is broken up into categories: Lore, Reviews, Upcoming Films and Miscellany. It's not the most indepth site or the mot up to date but if you want some info on zombie films it's as good as anywhere else to take a look. The lore section is need as he defines exctly what he looks for as a "zombie" and clearly lays out what makes a zombie that and not another monster. All other sections are exactly what you would expect. The library of reviews is a little lacking but not without merit and Miscellany section has an entertaining drinking game for those nights of revelry (remember not to loose your guard even then.)

ZAZ3

I mentioned in another post I talked about H1Z1 and it's possiblity as a cause of zombie outbreaks. I mentioned this link. Which has been removed but here is a sample of what was on the page.

Further research into this also led me to an old youtube video which if you know me by now, know led me on a whole new set of research and conspricy trails. Fortunately there is nothing behind this ZAZ3... for now. The door can never fully be shut on any idea but this is a little far fetched to gain any credit on it's own and no other sources canbe found to back up the information. The normal bickering on forums and what-not about the video but no evidence, no solid theories as to the hows or whys, nothing from any government even showing a cover up. So this is either one of the greatest cover ups of all time or fake. And if the cover up is so great, would they really over look youtube? Other smaller video sites maybe, but pre-released trailer get taken off youtube in hours and this video has been up a long time without anyone bothering to get rid of it. No ZAZ3 is luckily just fiction, unlike the unknown horrors in level 3 and 4 biolabs.

Interview with the internet's top zombie forum's leader

Well survivors I think it is valuable to stick together, nay it is invaluable. So here is an interview with a man who leads one of, if not, largest zombie survival forums on the internet. Mister Whaturmuva (Matt)

ZLC: What inspired you to start this forum?
Whaturmuva: My interest in what people would do during a ZPAW. It's just a hypothetical, but I enjoy examining human nature.

ZLC: How much work do you put into the forum to keep it in it's top ranking?
Whaturmuva: Next to none at this point. I know how to work the search engines well enough that I have gotten every site I have made to the top of google.

ZLC: Do you have a large team of admin to help you? If so have you actually met any of them or just online?
Whaturmuva: Nope, just me and one moderator. Have not met in real life but he seems like a pretty good guy. Overall the forum is fairly spam free and the members are all really great.

ZLC: There are lots of forums out there about zombies. What makes your's as awesome as it is?
Whaturmuva: It seems to be the largest of the very few that looks at zombies as a true possibility. Most just write them off and in every thread there is the "zombies can never exist" posters. Here we don't allow that type of behavior. To make it here one needs to expand their mind and really examine what is possible.

ZLC: Have you been Admin on any other forums?
Whaturmuva: Yes, I've made a variety of forums all which have gained a lot of popularity and high google rankings. I actually had another top zombie forum in the past but had to sell it due to life circumstances. The new owner seemed to have no passion for the site and it died just a few months later.

ZLC: So you're also running a zombie roleplay site. Do you have any experience with roleplaying games or play-by-post?
Whaturmuva: Can't say that I do. I created it for a member of the main forum and he had problems. Meanwhile the site got to the top of google but had no direction. Recently I have picked up a few users to start building it and I expect it to thrive very soon.

ZLC: There's also the zombie blog. How's the format for that site work? With multiple people contributing to it.
Whaturmuva: It really doesn't, the blog is fairly dead as I can't find anyone to contribute to it. I'd gladly let someone take it over if they want it but I haven't been able to find anyone who does. It's "Bloggers Wanted" is actually in my forum signature at all times :D

ZLC: Favorite zombie film and why?
Whaturmuva: Land of the Dead. It shows how humanity would survive in times after the world was already filled with zombies.

ZLC: Why a zombie forum and not a forum about something else awesome?
Whaturmuva: To make a forum thrive the admin must have interest in the subject. Zombies have held my interest for a long time and it just was a natural choice to go back to.

ZLC: Are you a true believer?
Whaturmuva: I don't believe there are any zombies on this planet at the moment. But I know this universe is ever expanding and we don't know a ton about it. I think it's a possibility just like anything else.

There you have. A true leader who believes all it takes is passion, knowledge and good people to get the job done.

Survival Packs

I recently discovered a site which offers pre-made survival packs. I think this is a great idea. For anyone who is too lazy to put a pack together themself, which means they are too lazy to survive very long anyway. Below I've included a list of the contents of each of these packs. Each includes a base price and then has additional upgrades.

Ankle-biter
$184
  • Pack ($40)
  • Handbook
  • Knife ($4)
  • Emergency Blanket ($5)
  • Lighter ($1)
  • 9m Black Duct Tape ($3)
  • First Aid Kit ($15)
  • Water Purification Tabs ($15)
  • 1 Roll Electric Tape ($4)
  • Tissues ($2)
  • Hand Sanitizers ($5)
  • Whistle ($1)
  • Keychain Light ($1)
  • 1 Pair Latex Gloves ($2)
  • Travel Toothbrush & Toothpaste ($5)
  • 25 ft. Paracord ($40)
  • 3 Meal Replacement Bars ($9)
    • Baseball bat ($20)
    • Flask ($15)
The total for this came out to $152, just shy of the price charged. Including the upgrades is about the same price. I am not aware of what is in one of these "Handbooks" they include. I would say all of this is useful equipment to have but it it not "zombie" exclusive equipment. I recommend having all of these items in your survival kit for your party.

Vice
$532
  • Pack ($60)
  • Handbook
  • 2L Bladder w/ Drinking Line & Mouth Piece ($40)
  • Headlamp ($35)
  • Multi-Tool ($8)
  • Emergency Blanket/Bivy ($5)
  • Heavy Duty Garbage Bags ($5)
  • 3 Pairs Latex Gloves ($2)
  • Water Proof Note Pad ($12)
  • Ball Point Pen ($1)
  • 56g Can of WD40 ($10)
  • 50 ft. Paracord ($50)
  • Knife ($4)
  • 3M Odor/Dust Mask ($3)
  • 50 ml Vodka ($12)
  • Water Filter Bottle ($22)
  • First Aid kit ($15)
  • 3 Lighters ($3)
  • Travel Tooth Brush & Toothpaste ($5)
  • Can Opener/Bottle Opener ($4)
  • Duct Tape ($4)
  • Black Vinyl Electrical Tape ($4)
  • Spork ($3)
  • Hand Sanitizing Wipes ($5)
  • 4 Protein Bars ($12)
  • 3 Packs of Sport Beans ($12)
    • Baseball bat ($20)
    • Airhorn ($20)
This kit, if got on your own, comes out to only $376, much less then the price to buy it all packaged together for you in this kit. For zombie survival I think a few of the items in this kit are not required and therefore not worth the extra weight. The airhorn is the first, this will only attract the undead and alert other survivors to your location. Both of which can be a bad thing. The WD40 is also only useful in select cercumstances and it's uses do not change life or death situations.

Headmaster
$684
  • Pack ($80)
  • Water filter bottle ($22)
  • 50 Water Purification tablets ($20)
  • 3 lighters ($3)
  • First Aid Kit ($15)
  • Can Opener/Bottle Opener ($4)
  • 3M Particulate Mask ($12)
  • Large roll Duct Tape Blk ($8)
  • Black Vinyl Electrical Tape ($4)
  • Adventure Medical Emergency Blanket/Bivy ($11)
  • 56g Can of WD40 ($10)
  • 10X25 Compact Binoculars ($10)
  • Knife ($4)
  • 35 Ball bearings ($60)
  • Bar of Soap ($4)
  • Collapsable Grappling Hook ($125)
  • 100 ft. Green Paracord ($75)
  • Large Orange Plastic Garbage Bags ($6)
  • Multiscrewdriver ($4)
  • Bundle of large 25 Ty-Raps ($3)
  • Orange Sharpie Micro ($1)
  • Black Sharpie Fine point ($1)
  • Note Pad ($1)
  • 3 Packs Of Energy Beans ($12)
  • Latex Gloves ($2)
  • Travel toothbrush & toothpaste ($5)
  • Crystal Deoderant ($5)
  • 3 blade razor ($2)
  • Q-Tips ($3)
  • Body/Hand/Face wipes ($6)
  • 2L collapsible container ($3)
  • Headlamp w/batteries ($35)
  • Keychain Flashlight ($1)
  • Travel Pouch/Toiletry Kit ($1)
  • Soap Holder ($1)
  • 2L Bladder and drinking line ($40)
    • Unbreakable Baseball Bat ($45)
    • Chainsaw ($160-$700)
    • Two Way/Weather Radio ($15)
    • Forcible Entry Tool ($15)
    • Zombie Tools Machete ($25)
    • Gas Mask Kit ($60)
    • Zombie Mask ($1)
    • 1L Fuel Bottle ($5)
    • Bolt Cutters ($220)
    • Flask ($15)
    • Collapsable Grappling Hook ($125)
    • Airhorn ($20)
With all upgrades this pack would be $1305 to put together yourself; without them, $599, almost a hundred dollars less then the suggested price. Now note I took the more expensive price of most of these items, meaning my numbers are maxes, you could put these packs together for much less and over time. Also of note this pack does not seem to include the handbook of which I have no information. This final pack includes a lot of items not useful to fight zombies. First of all is the chainsaw. Chainsaws are the biggest zombie myth ever, followed shortly by shotguns. Big, bulky, gas guzzling, noising, heavy, hard to weild (read dangerous to user), any of these reasons are enough to knock something off the list and the chainsaw has all of them! Zombie mask... need I say more? Gas mask, not needed unless you are in an area where you expect to find broken gas lines or leaking factories/power plants. Most of these other items are household items that would be nice to have at your base of operations but not needed in a zombie survival kit.

Over all I find these kits quite lacking. The Ankle-biter pack is decent and for not a bad price but the Vice pack is very over priced and the Headmaster pack while not over-priced, has many items you will find in any house you loot and will just burden you to carry with you every where.
I commend these fine folks for the effort but knowledge and training are going to keep you much safer then spending hundreds of dollars on these packs.
If you wish to look at the packs or contact the company or even purchase one of the packs here is their website:

Be smart, may the infection never reach you, and those close to you have the resolve to do what is needed should you be so unfortunate,
